In the early battery market, 12V batteries are lead-acid batteries, with the continuous development of lithium battery technology. Because of the characteristics of lithium battery materials, the advantages in various aspects are replacing the traditional lead-acid batteries. At present, the products of 12V lithium batteries are not very different from lead-acid batteries in terms of appearance for two reasons.
Why replace lead-acid batteries with lithium?
The lead-acid battery industry has been in development for a long time and the industry is mature. The battery casing has a very mature industry chain, which makes the production of 12V battery casing low cost. Because of the smaller size of lithium batteries compared to lead-acid batteries, it is possible to use the same housing as lead-acid batteries without the need to redesign the housing.
To design a separate case for a 12V lithium battery would require an expensive moulding cost (approximately 200,000CNY) which some small and medium-sized companies would not be willing to cover.
The vast majority of 12V lithium batteries are therefore designed to follow the lead-acid battery casing in search of lower manufacturing costs, but is this the right approach?
Firstly, the casing of a conventional 12V battery is designed according to the working principle and material properties of a lead-acid battery without any other structure in its internal space. This in order to ensure the fluidity of liquids such as sulphuric acid. When this design is carried over into the casing of other 12V lithium batteries, this is not conducive to the stability of the internal structure of the lithium battery.
Secondly, the shell of the traditional battery can only be sealed by gluing, obviously this sealing method is not able to meet the protection needs of 12V lithium batteries. And after the period of product maintenance is very difficult, because the ordinary sealing process is prone to degumming resulting in the shell can not be sealed. When it comes to the need to open the shell for product maintenance, the dealer or consumer can not restore the original state.
